It looks like they are failing for everyone (check the work units in your "computer tasks" list).
It is a problem they will have to fix.

The same, old error that probably has never been fixed strikes back. Server coughs up dozen of new WUs and then goes quiet for weeks. Admin of the project as his nickname suggests doesn't exist. Feels like this project is science lab for students.
3) Message boards : Number crunching : Quite a few of my tasks end with 197 (0x000000C5) EXIT_TIME_LIMIT_EXCEEDED (Message 553)

Has this problem been replicated when running 90% of available Boinc cpus?

The project didn't splutter out any WUs in weeks. Without new work, no one can tell if problem still exists.

Does Nanohub have tasks for ARM (Android)?
Also, it appears you have no tasks.

Project doesn't support ARM?
Speaking of WUs, there were none in a while.

I can't upload either, but I think you can still download. That will create a big traffic jam soon.

Indeed. I don't understand what was the point to allow new WUs to be downloaded and block upload.

If your WUs past the deadline you will upload invalid results. Unless admins decide to give credit for those.

Maybe you didn't see this ?

So I think it is normal and I also think the admin will consider the tasks overdue.

Server status shows that everything is normal but I cannot upload any completed WUs.

They have bad batches, due to the large number of apps they are running from different users.
The admin posted a while ago that they fix them as they find them, but with over 400, it takes a while.

Check your machine to ensure that you have enough memory and are not overclocking, etc.
Otherwise, it is something they have to fix.

I guess that whoever submits WUs should pay a closer look at what is broken and what needs fixing. In the end, they want good results not a pile of s..t.

Plus adding an option for server to abort those dodgy tasks would be great.

How much memory do you have on the host running nanoHUB?
Additionally, can you post log entry from BOINC manager so we can see what it says about the project?
11) Questions and Answers : Windows : Lots of WUs with 'Validate error' status (Message 464)

Post:
I suspended the project some time ago for the same reason. I had only added it to one machine, a 4GHz i7 running Windows 8.1. No overclock. The applications are faulty.

Yet again some after wave of faulty batch there was a stable flow of good ones. Until the server dried up.
Whoever is submitting WUs should listen to crunchers and do something about faulty ones instead of pushing continuously broken WUs.

I like this project because tasks are short and can be cruched adhoc without running hosts for days if that is what cruncher wants. Project doesn't pay well in terms of points but that is not major problem for me.

I wish that literally Nonexistent Admin became more involved in this project.

Another faulty batch?
I am not keen on babysitting this project again. Please sort it out.

No, I don't blame the students. It is the applications that have to be fixed; I think it has been said there are over 400 of them, and when errors are encountered they are fixed. That is why the error rate is slowly decreasing. But couldn't they be packaged up into longer units?

I don't either. And I am glad to hear that the error rate is decreasing. I didn't have a chance to crunch tasks from every new batch. From my personal experience, my last batch was the most successful. And I am hoping current one will be the same.

I wish that project admins could make their presence on this forum more often.

The tasks only run for several minutes on a CPU, in a VM.

I am wondering why they are so short. They are presumably created by students/researchers on a notebook. Why not just crunch them there?
They don't seem long enough to send out.

Good ones are relatively short. You get a lot of bad eggs amongst them which can run for much longer and end up as faulty.
It's been reported numerous times but not much has been done so far. Considering what you said about WUs being created by students it might mean that every new batch of WUs will have some tasks not done correctly.

Nothing changed. Same problems with WUs running for nearly 2 hours until they eventually error out, wasting CPU time unnecessarily.

And no updates or any news from admin(s).

Hi all,

On Windows 10 I can preview running instance of nanoHUB project. How can I do it on Linux.
I have boinc-virtualbox package installed only. Do I need to install full VirtualBox package?

Try to stick to VBox version supplied with Boinc installation file and limit amount of tasks running consecutively.
nanoHUB is real memory hogger.
