The tasks only run for several minutes on a CPU, in a VM. A GPU version is not the solution to every compute problem. You're a person with only a hammer as a tool and only see nails. Stop with the GPU suggestions.

What you do have, though, is a community of people, some of whom are professional software engineers and developers across various platforms.

Would it be possible to know something about the project we are currently working on? That would be very interesting and also provide an incentive to keep working on the project.

VirtualBox 5.2.8 works fine for me.

We are currently cleaning up a nanoHUB server (not the BOINC server) that was completely overwhelmed by the rate of WU consumption last week.

I hope that means that you have been pleasantly surprised by all the support you have been getting by crunchers, and also that you are going to meet the demand.
A lot of projects these days don't really have enough work, but I get the impression that you do, it is just a question of getting the show on the road. Good luck.
