I added project on Windows 10 machine and all tasks so far I got ended up with error 'Abandoned'.
I didn't even see those tasks being downloaded.

Boinc threw out these 2 errors after attaching and reboot of the client

one work unit now is at the 9 hour point; most finish in about 2 to 4 hours.

I ended it at the 11 hour point, as the CPU% continued to drop. Clearly, it was not doing any work.


Those WUs running endlessly are p...g me right off. Letting those WUs run like that you loose valuable time which could be used to do crunch for other projects.

I hope this will be resolved soon.

I've begun aborting anything that is not _0. I won't help if I'm the initial user but most _1's I've had timeout. An admin and fix the issue if the don't want this type of behavior.


Project admin said in the past that quality of WUs had been improved. This seems to be true but amount of failed tasks is too high.

I noticed that after releasing new batch of WUs once server is exhausted of new work random numbers of WUs appears to be ready to download.
Are those WUs are the ones which failed due to computation error or infamous and annoying like hell EXIT_TIME_LIMIT_EXCEEDED error?
Or just those which were cancelled by user?

Try boinc-virtualbox package from default repositories.

I run 3 tasks max with 10GB of RAM installed.

Infamous WUs ending with EXIT_TIME_LIMIT_EXCEEDED error are still present and they are driving me mad.
I try to cancel any tasks reaching 99% completion mark as they usually end up as faulty but when I leave my rigs running unattended they simply waste time by occupying CPU unnecessarily.

Can something be done to eliminate those faulty WUs?

Indeed, they were not picked and other tasks crunching later on gone as well as one of my hosts I changed recently went south. Windows 10 won't install and Linux crashes randomly. I suspect faulty memory module.

The error log suggests the Docker files might have been corrupted or missing. Have you seen more errors like this? Do these only occur on your new host? The error code is uncommon (10 of 27626 WUs yesterday).


I had over 40 faulty WUs, all failed on the same host (1725). All of them where processed today.
Few examples below

I remember 2 days ago I had to reinstall Windows 10 and had lots of abandoned tasks. Before reinstallation I copied everything form project's folder and copied back after reinstallation of the system. Would they be picked up by Boinc and run as normal but fail with the error I described in my fist post?

This is weird one. Not only nanoHUB is affected but also other projects.
The only thing I found that might be useful is this

I wish I could help but I am not super knowledgeable about VirtualBox and Hypervisor stuff.
Maybe project admins will know how to resolve it.

I had to install virtualbox 6 AND the additions.
Now i have the problem that i have a 24 core machine (2 CPU x 12 core each) and the project try to run 20 tasks at time that kill my disk....
i run also other project and i would like to be able to tell the boinc client to run only 4 or 6 of nanohub at time...


Create app_config.xml file in project's folder in C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\boinc.nanohub.org_nanoHUB_at_home

   <app>
      <name>boinc2docker</name>
      <max_concurrent>4</max_concurrent>
    </app>
</app_config>


After that in Boinc Manager press Read config file in Options. You should now crunch only 4 tasks at once.

This project is memory hungry so make sure you have plenty of RAM available.

It will sound silly but did you reboot your host after installing VirtualBox? And I would try VirtualBox supplied with Boinc installer.
